Drifters

Drifters or plankton are creatures that drift on the current, incorporating both animal and plant. I am in the process of printing 1000 miniature prints of the varied life within what is generically called plankton. I intend to create an installation of these 1000 key tag prints by hanging them ‘en masse’ from the ceiling of a gallery, creating a giant wave of small scale life. My wish is to create awareness of the importance of the bottom of the food chain on the entire cycle of life. The drifting world of plankton not only feeds the larger creatures in the ocean, but the single-celled photosynthetic elements create half the oxygen we breathe.
